Maks Chmerkovskiy Shares True Feelings About Baby #3
So You Think You Can Dance judge Maks Chmerkovskiy and his wife, Dancing With The Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd, are about to become the parents of three children.
This is especially exciting news, considering the fertility problems the couple experienced in the past.
Many fans felt surprised to hear the news, considering Peta just gave birth to her second son, Rio, in June 2023. Now, Maks is opening up about welcoming home their third child. Read on to see what he had to say.
Maks Chmerkovskiy Was Caught Off Guard With The New Baby
Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy always dreamed of a house full of children. But they weren’t quite prepared to welcome a new baby so soon after their second.
Maks recently appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show and his growing family came up in the interview. Although he and Peta are excited to welcome another baby, they weren’t prepared for another pregnancy so soon after Rio’s birth.
“I mean, we have a 7-year-old, we have an 8-month-old and Peta’s 5 months pregnant,” the Ukrainian dancer admitted. “So yeah, it was a surprise.”
“Oh wow,” hostess Jennifer Hudson replied.
“Yeah, and that’s the reaction I get 100% of the time. They’re like, ‘Oh wow.’ Like, yes,” Maks joked back.
Fans who follow the Chmerkovskiy family know that Maks and Peta longed for more children after having their first son, Shai. Sadly, they suffered through several miscarriages and even a failed round of IVF treatments. When they took a step back and stopped trying, they conceived their son, Rio. A third child is incredibly exciting news for the family.

“It’s definitely a dream come true, all those beat-up phrases,” the 44-year-old also told PEOPLE. “I’m extremely excited to be in this position, in this place in my life. I am also very aware of the perspective, of where I come from, of where I am now.”
The New SYTYCD Judge Gives A Lot Of Credit To Peta
Although Maks Chmerkovskiy loves being a father, he admits that he couldn’t do it without his wife Peta.
“It’s easy to be a father of three with a spouse such as Peta,” he told PEOPLE. “It’s not because I must, but I must admit that my job is much simpler than hers and I definitely get to enjoy the benefits of how amazing a mother, a wife and a friend that she is.”
