Demi Burnett Reveals Shocking Reasons For Celibacy
Bachelor in Paradise alum Demi Burnett is sharing the shocking reasons she has been celibate. She shares these details as she reveals she is very single and hasn’t been on a real date in years. She’s had serious relationships in the past. However, they did not work out. What has changed for Demi that is causing her to be celibate? Keep reading to find out more.
Demi Burnett Reveals Reasons For No Intimacy
Demi Burnett made her Bachelor Nation debut on Season 23 of The Bachelor. She then appeared on Seasons 6 and 7 of Bachelor in Paradise. More than a year ago she was diagnosed with autism. Since then she understands why she has had some problems her whole life.
She admits to having struggled with being overstimulated and keeping good hygiene. When she was open about her diagnosis she once said, “I don’t take care of myself. And also feeding myself. It’s so hard for me to eat because [there are] so many demands that come with eating, like deciding what to eat, preparing the food, sitting down, eating the food, cleaning it all up.”
Now, Demi is opening up about how her mind has changed about intimacy. She has now been celibate for two years. What are her reasons?
On the Almost Famous podcast, she revealed that when she shared her autism diagnosis with fans she also quit drinking. She said, “I’ve been celibate for two years. I’m not having sex. Since I stopped drinking, I really went back to my old high school ways of being a prude.”
Why did she make this change? Demi’s answer was sort of shocking. She said, “The act of it is disgusting, our bodily fluids touching each other. Have they washed their hands? Am I going to have to ask them, like, brush your teeth? All of these things that I’m just like, it’s not worth it to me.”
Demi continued explaining to Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti. She said, “Whereas when I was younger, I didn’t really care about all that stuff. Now that I’m not, I am very weird about all of that, and I can get turned off so easily because of the smell.”
Is She Dating And How Is Her Relationship With Mother?
Ben and Ashley also asked Demi Burnett about her dating life. She said she is still looking for love. However, she did tease that she has been spending time with another reality star who is also on the spectrum.
Demi has good news about her mom and their relationship. After her mom was released from prison last year they are close now. She revealed her mom is her bestie. Her mom helps her take care of things. She said, “A lot of the things that I struggle with are invisible things like paying bills. I have the money, but making sure everything is paid on time and autopay doesn’t always work out. I am really terrible with that part of adulting.”
Having her mom around has helped to reduce her anxiety. Demi feels it’s been a blessing.
