Janelle Brown Concerned Over Son’s Mental Health Before Death
Janelle Brown took to social media to share the devastating loss of her son, Garrison Brown, on Tuesday. She has opened up about her concerns regarding his mental health in the months leading up to his suicide. Due to a strained relationship with his dad, Kody Brown, Garrison was reportedly sadder and more angry than usual. Janelle Brown Mourns The Loss Of Her Son
It was confirmed by the Flagstaff Police Department that Garrison Brown’s death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was only 25 years old.

The Sister Wives star shared the news of her son’s passing on Instagram on Tuesday, March 5. Janelle immediately shut off the comments and asked that everyone respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time. Despite being separated for nearly two years, Kody and Janelle shared a joint statement about the passing of their son.
She posted two photos of Garrison Brown. One showed him in his service uniform and the other showed him grinning ear-to-ear sporting a backpack. Janelle captioned the post, “Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown. He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory.”
Janelle Says There Was Concern About Garrison Brown’s Mental Health
Admittedly, Garrison’s mother was worried about his mental health before he passed away. “I have worried about my boys’ mental health,” Janelle Brown said. “Gabriel feels everything very, very deeply. But he’s also the kid who doesn’t say anything. [Garrison] just seems angry or sadder, like, he’s not as happy-go-lucky as he used to be.”
At the time of his death, Garrison was estranged from his father. Their relationship became strained during the COVID-19 pandemic when Garrison and Kody could not agree on guidelines to follow to keep everyone healthy. Garrison and Gabriel Brown have both opened up about how the guidelines seemed to just be an excuse for Kody Brown to spend more time with Robyn.

“They have, for a long time, perceived that Kody’s focus, you know … his time, everything … was spent, the majority at Robyn’s house, even when we lived in Vegas,” Janelle said at the time. “They feel like there’s been a real preference for Robyn. And so, this thing with COVID now – where he’s at her house because she’s willing to follow his rules – they are a little bit suspicious.”
