Married at First Sight 17 in Denver has been on the air for some time. The way fans see it, the majority are over the current season. Has the Lifetime show run its course?

Married At First Sight Was A Game-Changer When It Began

Reality dating shows are a dime a dozen in 2024. However, when Married at First Sight came around in 2014, it was truly ahead of its time. These days, the idea of marrying a stranger has been explored in multiple aspects, with shows like Love Is Blind and others. MAFS set itself apart through its premise of marrying a complete stranger at the altar and having participants put all of their trust in the experts.

The first few years of Married at First Sight was when the show was at its peak. Back then, it was common to get one season a year. This gave viewers plenty of time to invest in the new relationships on the show and really get to know the couples on a deeper level.

Lifetime Fans Reach MAFS Exhaustion Point?

Over the last few years, Lifetime has drastically changed its approach to Married at First Sight. On average, there are at least two seasons per year now. There are also typically five couples instead of the original three. This means more couples to focus on, giving each couple less screen time overall.

Another thing that Married at First Sight fans are now experiencing is show fatigue. It’s obvious that Lifetime is churning out new seasons at a lightning pace. This creates a feeling of distrust among viewers. The way fans see it, the network is focused on pumping out more content rather than trusting the original premise, which is to create truly lasting marriages.
