Will Kelly Ripa Leave Her Husband To Be Golden Bachelorette?

ABC launched its first senior dating show in September 2023. Gerry Turner was the first Golden Bachelor. The 72-year-old retiree found love with Theresa Nist, 70. The golden couple married during a televised special in January.

The network finally confirmed that a female-led version is in the works. The Golden Bachelorette will air this fall, but who will get the coveted gig is still up in the air. Some soap fans are hoping Kelly Ripa’s former co-star, Susan Lucci, could be the first Golden Bachelorette. Or it could be one of Gerry Turner’s rejected contestants.

Mark Consuelos threw his wife’s name in the hat during a recent episode of Live With Kelly and Mark. The married couple were discussing what they would do if the other passed away – would they date or stay single?

According to the U.S. Sun, Kelly Ripa said that she would never date again. She clarified why after the audience cheered her answer. “I’m just too finicky,” she said.

Her husband then jokingly nominated her for the senior dating show. “On this season’s The Golden Bachelorette….” he quipped. His wife immediately shut that idea down.

“That would be the fastest series ABC ever had,” Kelly said. She went on to joke that she would send limo after limo away after the men didn’t meet her high standards.

As for Mark Consuelos, his plan is to stay single for one year after Kelly Ripa’s tragic passing. “I would do what any self-respecting man would do. I would go to church and meet a nice lady at church,” he said.
