The latest season of Survivor, Season 46, premieres tomorrow night, February 28th on CBS. Of course, there is all the hype and anticipation that should be associated with such a megahit show starting a new season. However, fans do have one major concern. Survivor fans believe Jeff Probst has lost his edge.

Jeff Probst Career On Survivor

Jeff Probst has been with Survivor since Day One. What started out as a social experiment, is now a huge hit reality show for CBS. Probst has been there for every moment of it.

Probst was there when the world saw Richard Hatch naked. He watched Boston Rob and Amber fall in love, get married and have a family. It was Jeff Probst who witnessed Johnny Fairplay lie about the death of his grandmother in order to win a reward. He saw Sandra Diaz-Twine win Survivor twice without ever winning an individual challenge of any kind. Jeff Probst was there when Cirie Fields “got off the couch” to become on of the most beloved Survivor player of all time.

Now, fans are saying the reality television show host has lost his edge. When you have seen everything, been a part of every challenge, every win and every lost, it is possible to lose your edge. Despite this, Jeff Probst believes he still has his edge. He believes this latest season of Survivor will prove it.

Jeff Probst Wants To Prove Fans Wrong

One thing that may help Jeff Probst he has not lost his edge is how Survivor will work this season. Instead of each show being only 60 minutes long, it has been changed to 90 minutes. “We get to spend more time with the players,” Probst explained. If viewers are seeing more of the contestants, they will be seeing more of Probst. When the fans see more of Jeff Probst, he will be able show off that edge he claims he still has.

“I’ve heard the criticism that I’ve become a little too soft – I hear you,” Jeff Probst said in a recent interview.

It is unclear just how Jeff Probst will show Survivor fans he still has his edge. Probst did admit this cast of castaways are a bit different previous players.  “This group is funny,” Jeff Probst explained. “I had a smile on my face every single day, because even though they are still playing this game and trying to figure out how to maneuver, they’re doing it with a personality that’s fun to be a part of.” It is possible part of Probst’s plan to prove his edginess will involve making this group of survivors feel the pain of this game, making them a bit more serious about it. Fans will have to wait and see how Jeff Probst proves he still has an edge.

Tell us what you think. Has Jeff Probst lost his edge? Instead of Probst losing his edge, is it possible Survivor has lost its edge? After 45 seasons, can a television show, of any kind, still have an edge? Sound off in the comment section below.
