Fans are appalled after learning that Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird still follows one of Mama June’s most toxic exes. Granted, June’s choices in men have always been questionable. Mama June has not had the best choices in men. She was with Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson’s father, Sugar Bear, for years. Then, it came out that he was abusive and had thrown keys at Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird’s eye and caused serious damage. However, this was covered up because if it was found out, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo could be jeopardized. It ended up getting canned when June was seen out with Mark McDaniel, an ex who allegedly had molested her eldest child, the late Anna Cardwell. Mama June went on to have another show, From Not to Hot where she met Geno Doak who seemed decent.
Then, it took a sad turn when they both got involved in substance abuse which got them arrested. Soon enough, Alana was living with Pumpkin, and the relationships were strained. Everyone was grateful when June decided to leave him but is he really out of their lives? According to a Reddit thread, Pumpkin is still following Geno on Instagram. The OP wrote this:

So, what did fellow Redditors have to say about this revelation and were they really that shocked?
- Learned behaviors are cruel sometimes. June’s kids watched her cling to liars and abusers. She probably doesn’t have the tools to detach.
- I just listened to her on a podcast and she said she likes Geno. Her and Josh still keep in contact with him.
- I think she only hates him because June tells her to, the way June is directing them all to hate Doe Doe and forever directs them to hate her own Mother and only Anna calls her out on that.
Working It Out
Despite what fans may have seen, apparently, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird does have a soft spot for Geno Doak. Maybe she likes him when he is not with her mother. She has said great things about Mama June’s husband, Justin Stroud. However, fans have seen him insult June, mock her, and yell at Anna’s eldest daughter, Kaitlyn. So, maybe she is not the best judge of character.
