Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird is the voice of reason amid her sister, Anna Cardwell’s cancer battle. The whole sad situation is currently playing out in the new season of Mama June: Family Crisis. At the end of the last season of Family Crisis, it was revealed that Anna Cardwell had stage 4 adrenal carcinoma. Now, with the new season underway, she is deep into her treatments. It has her youngest sister, Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson questioning if she should go to college in Colorado. Her other sister, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird is worried about what will happen to Anna’s daughters, Kylee and Kaitlyn. Luckily, Anna has a lot of support and the family was able to give her a beautiful wedding to her longtime boyfriend, Eldridge Toney. Unfortunately, in the upcoming episode, Anna is getting mixed messages as to how she should proceed.

According to In Touch Weekly, Pumpkin stopped by to check on Anna and bring her some food. Anna was in good spirits despite feeling a tad ill. She shared that the chemo was seemingly working:

“They say I don’t really have any more spots on my lungs. My kidney is a little swollen. The tumor on my kidneys has grown a little bit, but they said that could be cause it’s dying.”

Mama June is there and noted Anna needs to stay in tune with her body. Anna added she needs to reduce her sugar while eating healthily. Pumpkin told her sister to “indulge” but Anna clarified she wanted to be alive for Kaitlyn to go to high school in a handful of years, saying:

“I’ll be all right. We all just going with the flow. That’s what we’re doing. We just going with the flow. We’re dealing with the cards we have been dealt with.”

Mama June agreed but Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird felt there was more at stake:

“We need to know all these things, you know what I’m saying. There’s a lot of other stuff besides the cancer stuff that needs to be in order that’s not in order at all.”

Over It

Mama June did feel that the doctors should give them more of an idea so she was lost, as well. However, she shared that they had asked but it is a wait-and-see situation. This was too much for Anna Cardwell and she attempted to dismiss them by saying it was giving her a headache. In the end, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird did not get custody of either daughter. Rather, Mama June has Kaitlyn while Anna’s ex-husband has Kylee, their daughter together. He is fighting to get Kaitlyn as he claims he is very much her father despite not being blood.
