Katy Perry Fans Want Her To Say Goodbye To ‘American Idol’
American Idol is back next week and Katy Perry will return as a judge once again. The diva has been met with a lot of complaints over the past few seasons from her detractors. Now, Katy’s own fans want her to leave the reality TV competition show.

Katy Perry fans ask her to leave American Idol
Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie joined American Idol at the same time. They all came on board in Season 16 when the show relaunched on ABC. This was two years after Fox canceled the show. The three have been part of the show ever since, offering up an old-school singer, country singer, and pop star to round things out.
However, after five seasons, many fans want to see a change. The biggest complaints have been about Katy Perry. The complaints range in scope. Some feel Katy makes the show more about her than the singers. Other fans feel that Katy is overly harsh to certain contestants. Others feel that Katy shows favoritism. At the end of the day, most complaints are because fans either like or dislike someone that Katy feels differently about.
However, there is now a new complaint. This time it is from the pop singer’s own fans. These are not people who hate her and want her gone. These are people who love the diva, but they want to see her doing something different. These fans feel that Katy is neglecting her singing and musical career for American Idol and other TV and movie ventures.
Kety Perry fans want her to get back to her own music
Katy Perry promoted the new season of American Idol on her Instagram page. While this made many fans happy, others spoke out about it in the comments. It seems that many of the singer’s fans would rather she get back to making new music rather than working on reality TV.

Katy Perry posted that this season on American Idol, fans would get the judge’s “origin stories.” She seems excited because the reality TV show will visit their hometowns and see where they came from before they made it big. However, the majority of the fans in the comments didn’t seem to care. They just want new music.

Katy has only released one album since she joined American Idol. While she released Witness the year before she joined the show, her Smile album in 2020 has been her only new music since that time. She also hasn’t been on a headlining tour since American Idol either, with her Witness: The Tour as her last one. She has had a residency in Las Vegas from 2021 through 2023.
When, and if, Katy Perry plans to create a new album remains unknown. She sold her music rights in 2023 for $225 million. While in her residency, she did tease she has been writing a lot and was planning a KP6 Era album.
