Tammy Slaton had an emotional storyline in Seasons 4 and 5 of 1000-lb Sisters. Viewers saw Tammy and Caleb meeting at the Ohio weight-loss facility, and the pair had an instant connection. Tammy found love in the most unlikely of places, as Caleb and his new love interest leaned on each other for support.
Many 1000-lb Sisters fans agreed that this was a sweet storyline. Others doubted the authenticity of the relationship. TLC is known for manipulating scenes and storylines for the sake of drama. They filed their application on November 21, 2022. The marriage date was January 18, 2023, according to records. Tammy and Caleb did separate, but, the pair never legally divorced. Tammy was distraught in scenes during the memorial. So, even though the pair were not husband and wife long, their love for one another was genuine, including from a legal standpoint.
The way fans see it, even though Caleb’s loss is tragic, for both Tammy and Caleb’s family, she was able to use that tragedy to motivate her to achieve a better, healthier life. In that way, she honors his memory and everything they shared. They didn’t have as much time together as either of them hoped they would. Still, the connection they shared was real, both emotionally and legally.
