Susan Lucci is the undeniable Queen Of daytime TV, but could the All My Children star rule primetime TV as the first Golden Bachelorette? Keep reading for all the details on the surprising new rumor.

Susan Lucci Finally Earns Her Due

“Susan Lucci” is a name recognizable even beyond diehard soap fans. The actress played the incomparable Erica Kane on All My Children for over 40 years.

Despite her impressive career in soap operas, the actress has only one Daytime Emmy trophy. She was nominated for a groundbreaking 18 times before finally nabbing her first Best Actress Emmy in 2009.

Susan Lucci would probably still be playing Erica Kane today if the ABC soap hadn’t been canceled in 2011.

The legendary actress attended the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in December 2023. She finally got her due during the ceremony when she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Actor Shemar Moore presented the icon with the trophy.

ABC Eyeing Soap Legend For Golden Bachelorette?

Former AMC stars Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos teased a reboot of the popular soap a few years ago. There has yet to be any movement on the idea, and it’s unclear if it’s still on the table.

However, Susan Lucci could possibly be returning to television screens in a surprising new role. There are rumors that the network is considering her as the first lead for a Golden Bachelorette spinoff.

Twenty years after launching the Bachelor dating show, ABC debuted its first senior citizen version last year with Gerry Turner as the first Golden Bachelor. The spinoff revitalized the tired franchise, and fans hope to see an older female-centric spinoff soon.

Susan Lucci’s husband, Helmut Huber, passed away in 2022. They were married for over 50 years. With the relatable tragedy of losing her husband and being a household name, ABC exes are reportedly courting the actress, 77, for The Golden Bachelorette.

Radar Online reported that an insider leaked the news to The National Enquirer. “ABC sees Lucci as the perfect candidate because of her age appropriateness and the widely known narrative about losing her longtime spouse,” the source spilled.

Traditionally, the show chooses its Bachelorette leads from previous seasons of the franchise. Many Bachelor Nation fans are rooting for Golden Bachelor runner-up Leslie Fhima to get the gig.

The network rarely comments on casting news and hasn’t even confirmed if The Golden Bachelorette is happening.

Susan Lucci Takes On Scandoval

Susan Lucci has a few acting credits to her name since All My Children was canceled over ten years ago. She recently took part in Bravo host Andy Cohen’s dramatic reading of an episode of Vanderpump Rules on his Sirius XM radio show.

Cohen gathered Lucci, Chrissy Teigen, Amber Tamblyn, Brad Goreski, Leslie Grossman, Carson Kressley, Cheyenne Jackson, Chloe Fineman, and Sarah Sherman to recite episode 15 from Season 10 of the Bravo show.

The episode is the one where Ariana Madix and other cast members learn of Tom Sandoval’s torrid affair with co-star Rachel Leviss. Madix and Sandoval were in a nearly 10-year relationship at the time.

Would you love to see the AMC vet as the first Golden Bachelorette? Why or why not? Sound off in the comments.
