‘Yellowstone: 2024’: Why Hasn’t Matthew McConaughey Signed Yet?
When Yellowstone ends in November, there will be a new spinoff show called 2024. Like the OG, this will be from Taylor Sheridan.
Since it was talked about a year ago, Matthew McConaughey has been attached to this new spinoff. For months, people have been talking about him starring in this unknown Paramount+ series.
However, he still has not signed a contract to make it official.
Despite persistent rumors from unverified sources that money is the issue, there is recent news that has come to light.
Here is why Matthew McConaughey has not signed up for the latest Yellowstone spinoff 2024.

Why Hasn’t Matthew McConaughey Signed On With Yellowstone Spinoff 2024?
For a year now, Yellowstone fans have been hearing about the off-screen drama between the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, and Kevin Costner. Moreover, by the spring, they were ending the OG series with the remainder of Season 5.
In addition, Costner was out of the series as John Dutton, but the talk seemed to focus on the future. And that future was with Matthew McConaughey. Although there was no information on McConaughey’s character, or officially where they were filming, the news has been focused on the future, with his name in the spotlight.
But, there seems to be a pebble in the foundation of this plan. According to Matthew Belloni writing for Puck, the Dallas Buyers Club star has not signed anything because he wants to see a script. It turns out his commitment to this project is “overstated.”
Matthew McConaughey is still the top choice to star, but reports of his commitment to the project are overstated; he won’t sign on until he sees a script, which hasn’t happened yet, per his agent.
Therefore, it seems that there was a lot of promotion over a new Yellowstone spinoff series, without officially signing on the popular McConaughey.
Worst of all, he is asking for scripts and Taylor Sheridan is not ready. This is not the first time a star has been unhappy with Sheridan’s slowness to produce a script. A year ago, Costner was reportedly unhappy that Sheridan did not have a script ready for Yellowstone Season 5. That is what led to the big issues with the star of the series because he had his own passion project to work on, Horizon.
It should be noted thatTaylor Sheridan is currently the showrunner of up to a dozen series for Paramount+. He is spinning a lot of plates as he juggles his responsibilities of writing and running so many series.
