Joni Mitchell Resurfaces After Years Out Of Public Eye

Joni Mitchell was one of the most popular singers throughout the 1970s. Her influence reverberates through the music industry even today.

She retired from performing in public in 2009 amid health issues. The singer suffered a major setback in 2015 when an aneurysm ruptured in her brain.

After years out of the public eye, Joni Mitchell made a surprise appearance at the Newport Folk Festival in 2022. She performed some of her biggest hits for the crowd.

Marcus Mumford and Brandi Carlile joined Joni Mitchell for a rendition of “A Case of You.” Mitchell went on to perform several times since the 2022 surprise appearance.

Joni Mitchell’s music was brought to a new generation in the 2003 flick Love, Actually. Her song “Both Sides Now” was used in a now-iconic scene featuring actress Emma Thompson.

Iconic Singer Will Perform At 2024 Grammy Awards

Joni Mitchell has nine Grammy Awards to her name and a total of 18 nominations. But believe it or not, she has never performed at the show.

The 2024 Grammy Awards will see a lot of firsts. Country singer Jelly Roll could win his first Grammy Award. Fans shouldn’t expect to see Taylor Swift perform this year. But at 80, Joni Mitchell will be able to check performing at the award show off her bucket list.

She could also add another Grammy to her collection. She’s nominated for Best Folk Album for her 2023 live album Joni Mitchell At Newport [Live].

How Is Her Health Now?

As previously mentioned Joni Mitchell has had some health problems in recent years. The reclusive singer revealed that she suffers from Morgellons disease, a type of skin disease that can affect quality of life.

According to TODAY, the singer now walks with a cane for assistance. However, not much else is known about her health status. She’s obviously well enough to perform at the Grammy Awards, so she must be in relatively good health.
