Hallmark Explains Why Cameron Mathison Is Not In Upcoming Hannah Swensen Mystery
On Thursday, Sleuthers got some big news. Hallmark announced that there would be an eighth Hannah Swensen Mystery. This one is called One Bad Apple. All of the favorites from the series that was originally called Murder She Baked are back except for Cameron Mathison.
Therefore, TV Line contacted Hallmark to find out why Mathison’s Mike Kingston will not be part of this upcoming mystery. The explanation given to the publication is that the network decided to “stay true to the book series.” These books were written by Joanne Fluke.
Moreover, Hallmark, as they often will do, originally made some changes from the original text. Although they did play up the love triangle in the book, it was all done in fun. In addition, the books have Hannah dating other guys besides Mike or Norman (Gabriel Hogan).
Therefore, the addition of Victor Webster’s character of prosecuting attorney Chad Norton is closer to the Joanne Fluke cozy mysteries.
But, back in November, Cameron Mathison did sign a multi-year, multi-picture deal with Great American Family. Most Sleuthers did figure that this major change would mean that Mike would not be back for more mysteries, assuming Hallmark made any more.

Cameron Mathison Tells Fan That He Left For More Work
The news that Cameron Mathison is not in the upcoming Hannah Swensen lit up the private Girls Gone Hallmark podcast Facebook page. In the discussion, one fan revealed that “He actually responded to a friend of mine asking a question as to why he went there and his answer was, ‘I need to provide for my family and they have more work than Hallmark was offering me.'”
Therefore, as with the Mystery 101 ending Instagram live, Kristoffer Polaha pointed out that Jill Wagner had made a decision that was “right for her family.” Actors have to do what is right for their own situations.
Sleuthers, what do you think of the reasons for Cameron Mathison not returning to play Detective Mike Kingston? Why do you think that the General Hospital star is not returning? Share your opinions below.
