What Is Hallmark’s An American In Austen About?
“A devoted Austenite gets to live out her Pride & Prejudice dreams.” Ready to learn more about Hallmark’s An American In Austen? According to the synopsis, Harriet is a librarian who has not had much luck in love. It may be because no man can live up to her expectations. Who is her dream man? Of course, it is Mr. Darcy from Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride & Prejudice.
Ironically, Harriet does have a boyfriend, but he is not Mr. Darcy. He is nothing like the Jane Austen character Mr. Darcy. Fitzwilliam Darcy is perfection, while her boyfriend represents the not-so-romantic real world. Therefore, when he surprises her and proposes, she has no answer. Instead, she takes off without giving him any indication of what her answer may be.
Now exhausted, Harriet is in the car, half asleep and ready to go home. It has been a long day. But, she is not home. Instead, she is living inside the pages of her favorite novel, Pride & Prejudice. Moreover, she is hanging out with the one and only Elizabeth Bennett, her literary “hero.”
Now, Harriet is hanging out with the Bennett family. They are as rambunctious as she ever imagined them. In turn, they find her entertaining because Harriet seems to be able to tell the future. How remarkable is that? But, the one person who does not find this remarkable is Mr. Darcy. He finds it peculiar. Therefore, Harriet seems to annoy him to the fullest extent.
“As Harriet’s presence disrupts the story she loves most, she starts to question the fantasies she once held of Regency-Era Life. Now, Harriet must choose between this unexpected chance at love with the man she’s always dream of or her imperfect life back in the real world.”
