Did Taylor Swift Write ‘Argylle’ Book That Is Now Apple TV Movie?
Argylle is the highly anticipated spy movie starring Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Dua Lipa, John Cena, and a cornucopia of A-listers. Directed by Matthew Vaughn, this movie was said to be a different kind of James Bond, based on the spy novel by Elly Conway. Vaughn praised the book as something so unique, he already planned a series of movies.
However, what is overshadowing the February premiere is the rumor that Taylor Swift is the mysterious Elly Conway, the first-time author of the book that inspired the Apple+ movie.

Is Taylor Swift Elly Conway The Author Of Argylle?
On Tuesday, Deadline reported via Rolling Stone that director Matthew Vaughn is “shutting down” all rumors that Taylor Swift wrote the book Argylle, the source material of his upcoming movie.
This rumor started when Swifties saw the star-studded preview with a feline star in the midst of the action in the spy thriller. This intensified as fans started to believe that the cat featured in the preview resembled Swift’s kitty, Olivia Benson. Soon, conspiracy theories started to overtake social media platforms.
Therefore, Vaughn, who does not have a social media presence, was shocked when his Swiftie daughter asked him if Taylor wrote the spy novel. She accused him when she said, “You never told me Taylor wrote the book!”
Surprised, Vaughn told his daughter that this was not true. “What are you talking about Taylor Swift wrote the book. She didn’t write the book!”

Who Is Elly Conway?
What likely started the Taylor Swift rumors that she is Argylle author Elly Conway is that very little is known about her. On her IMDb page, it reads “She was born and raised in upstate New York. She wrote her first novel about Agent Argylle while working as a waitress in a late-night diner.”
In addition, the bio portion revealed that she is the author of the book and is her debut novel. On the Pro version of the IMDb site, she has only one credit. She worked electric on Aquaman.
Next, Elly Conway’s name spelling was inconsistent. She was called Ellie Conway, as well as Elly Conway. It seems like a rather critical mistake to put out press releases with the wrong information. Therefore, the confusing secrecy behind this author has made it easy to fuel rumors that Elly Conway is a pen name for Taylor Swift.
However, Matthew Vaughn insists that the singer is not the scribe. “There is a real book…and it’s a really good book. And there is an Elly Conway who wrote the book, but it’s not Taylor Swift. I say that because I imagine Taylor Swift has a load of people trying to jump on her bandwagon left, right, and center, and I don’t want to be part of that club.”
However, Matthew Vaughn’s daughter seemed very convinced that Taylor wrote it.
Who Wrote Argylle?
But if not Taylor, who wrote this story? That remains a mystery. That is because if this book is so celebrated, why isn’t the author being interviewed? Why is she hiding?
Could Elly Conway be the nom de plum of another famous writer? Or did Vaughn and screenwriter Jason Fuchs use that name and write the book themselves?
Perhaps the movie tagline, “The greater the spy, the bigger the lie” is a clue that there are some secrets to uncover.
