Ian Somerhalder Content With Hollywood Exit
The Vampire Diaries alum Ian Somerhalder is content with his Hollywood exit. He has left that world behind and is living his best life. So, what makes everything so beautiful now, and what is he doing without his acting career? Read on for more details.
Ian Somerhalder Content With Hollywood Exit
For many years, Ian Somerhalder was known as one of the hottest actors in Hollywood. He starred in the hit series, Lost as Boone Carlyle. Then, he really made a name for himself as Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries. During his stint, he dated his co-star, Nina Dobrev. They were together for a handful of years but then that ended. Ian soon found himself in a romance with Twilight actress, Nikki Reed. She had come off of a marriage to American Idol contestant Paul McDonald. During her divorce, she met Ian, and they tied the knot in April 2015.
The two went on to welcome their first child, a little girl, in 2017 followed by a son in 2023. Together, Ian and Nikki have chosen to live a very natural and nomadic life which seems to work for them. In fact, Ian’s last acting credit was in 2020 whereas Nikki’s was in 2016. So, it has been a while since they have been on the big screen. According to E!, this is the life that has made them the happiest. The duo has left California for a farm to be one with nature and they have never been more at peace.
Ian Somerhalder had this to say: “I love what I did for a really long time. I love making films, I just did it for so long. We had an amazing run.” He and Nikki are currently promoting their documentary, Common Ground, which they executive produced. This is a project near and dear to their hearts and they shared what it meant to them. Nikki shared this:
“When you see the way that nature operates, you find compassion. It’s a beautiful thing to see what’s happening with children, to watch them participate in the growing of their food and the understanding of what food is and where it comes from.”
A New Way Of Living
Nikki Reed admits that she was in her early twenties when she started to understand this new way of living her life. She saw that helping the planet only, in exchange, benefits you. Both she and Ian Somerhalder are freely enjoying being together in nature and raising their children purely. Though fans may miss seeing them on the big screen, they can always catch reruns of The Vampire Diaries or one of Nikki’s movies.
