According to police documents obtained by WCVBRoxanne Doucette received an urgent text message from the alleged scammer. “You have to get rid of your husband honey. I need you so much,” the message read. The scam artist was posing as Kaye in an attempt to coax Roxanne Doucette into sending them money.

Later that day, Roxanne Doucette is reported to have responded by saying, “Making an amazing soup. Special potion. He will be hungry when he gets back. Just enough for him.” Two hours after the original message, she then wrote, “Hubby got back not feeling well. Maybe I can collect life insurance.”

When the soap opera scam artist asked, “Honey, when will that be?” Roxanne Doucette became apprehensive. She replied, “Don’t know,” before calling 911 shortly after. Roxanne Doucette told 911 that her husband had become unresponsive.

However, she was charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer who attempted to collect her phone during the investigation.
