Is TLC’s ‘Unexpected’ Canceled?

TLC’s Unexpected has aired five seasons so far. However, they may not be airing a Season 6. Fans have raised speculations on whether the show has been canceled or not. There has been a lot of controversy regarding what the producers allowed to happen on the show, especially in Season 5 regarding Jason Korpi and Kylen Smith. Maybe TLC realizes a Season 6 may not be worth it anymore.

Producer Abuse While Filming

Fans were not very happy with production after Season 5. Viewers witnessed a lot of abuse that was allowed in the last season of TLC’s Unexpected. Fans noticed Jason’s controlling behavior after he threw a fit when Kylen wanted to go to the hospital for the birth of their son, Xavier. Korpi believed he would not be listened to or prioritized at the hospital. He also did not think that Kylen should get an epidural as he did not see the benefits it would give her to do so. Jason was also not a fan of Kylen seeing her family often. Smith did not understand how they could make time for Korpi’s friends but not for her family. This is especially since she was pregnant with their grandchild..

Fans Are Convinced It Was Cancelled

Unexpected fans are pretty convinced that the show has been canceled. They voiced their opinions on Redditt.

  • It’s just become a launchpad for OF anyway
  • The show asked to film a couple over at the military base near where I live last year. They were declined permission to film on base. So that probably put a weird void in the unaired season anyways. They should just cancel.

  • I never watched Teen Mom but I made the mistake of watch this season of Unexpected and could not believe what I was seeing. That boy was abusing that girl on air, and nothing was being done about. The producers weren’t indicating on air that there was something wrong and no professional help was offered to either of them, especially the young pregnant, abused mother. I was having physical reactions to the show and, yet, couldn’t stop watching it. I was hoping someone would do something but, nope, they basically paid that abuser to abuse his victim right on air! It should be canceled!

  • I just saw on instagram that Jenna had made a comment on a TikTok I believe after someone asked her and she basically said something along the lines of, “…if they ever air season 6.”

TLC has not confirmed that the show has been cancelled so maybe there will still end up being a Season 6. After reading all the comments fans said, do you think there should be a Season 6 of Unexpected? Maybe not after what was allowed in Season 5. Do you think the producers were wrong about that?
