Hallmark’s ESPN Promo Marries Romance With Football
On Sunday, the Hallmark Channel and ESPN partnered for a unique video. They did it by telling a story. Hallmark screenwriter Julie Sherman Wolfe has written 24 Hallmark movies. They include this year’s Holiday Hotline, as well as the Ryan Paevey-Pascale Hutton football romance Fourth Down And Love.
In the promo, that she also shared on Instagram, the talented screenwriter married her love of romance and the 49ers and told the story of the 2023 NFL Season. As she typed on her computer, the images of the key people and plays appeared, as she told the story she was writing. “First of all, you have your leading men, wise givers of advice, quirky best friends.”
Her story reads like a classic Hallmark Christmas movie. “And most importantly, an incredible story. Maybe someone’s in a new town, or starting a new job. And we see the meet-cutes, that spark. You think ‘This is it. This is what we’ve been waiting for.’ And then, something happens that changes everything.”
After mentioning “twists and turns,” and “moments of pure joy,” she says, “unexpected romance.” Then, the image of a cheering Taylor Swift appears, decked in her KC red sweater.
Yes, someone’s heart may get broken, and not everyone gets the big kiss at the end, but the one thing that remains, especially at Christmas is love.
And eventually, everyone will have their storybook ending. It is Hallmark, after all.
