Gerry Turner’s Past Puts Damper On Bachelor Franchise
The first season of The Golden Bachelor was riding high on a wave of positive reviews and record-shattering ratings. Then the day before Gerry Turner’s final rose was given out, the wheels came flying off.
The Hollywood Reporter published a shocking article about Turner’s alleged sketchy history and supposed fabrications.
An ex-girlfriend of Turner’s revealed that they’d dated seriously for several years. This was news to Bachelor Nation fans. Turner implied on the show that he had never seriously dated anyone since losing his wife.
The article further alleges that the 72-year-old retiree embellished his wealth and career. Turner claims that he retired at 55, but the outlet found evidence that he worked beyond that age.
Despite these allegations, the Golden Bachelor finale dominated the TV ratings. However, an insider revealed that Gerry Turner’s shady past had put a damper on the possibility of a Golden Bachelorette and Golden Bachelor In Paradise spinoffs.

Golden Bachelor Showrunner Gives New Hope For Spinoffs
The first season of Golden Bachelor has come to a conclusion, but Gerry Turner’s story isn’t over. In just a few weeks, viewers can watch him marry Theresa Nist in a televised wedding ceremony.
Nist and Turner recently relived their romance during a special screening of the Golden Bachelor. A Q&A session followed, and it included Nist, Turner, and several showrunners and producers with the Bachelor Nation franchise.
Variety reports that the panel audience “began chanting” the names of several contestants when the Golden Bachelorette spinoff came up in the discussion. In addition to runner-up Leslie Fhima, the outlet reported that Faith Martin and Joan Vassos were among the names tossed around.
Even Rachel Recchia wants to be the Golden Bachelorette someday.
The NYC panel included Bachelor Nation executive producers and showrunners. Jason Ehrlich hinted that the first Golden Bachelorette would be a familiar face.
“There are so many incredible women from this season,” he said about the options to lead the first season.

But Golden Bachelorette isn’t the only spinoff on the table. Another EP, Claire Freeland, said during the panel that she’s “here for ‘Golden Paradise.’”
While neither Ehrlich or Freeland gave insight into what the network is thinking, another EP gave fans a glimmer of hope. “Stay tuned,” executive producer Bennett Graebner teased about the spinoffs.
