Did Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell & Mama June Make Amends?
As fans of Mama June: From Not to Hot know, Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell was confirmed dead at the age of 29 today. Mama June Shannon and the rest of her family have slowly taken to social media to issue statements on Anna’s passing.
Sadly, as fans who followed the series know, Mama June and her daughter had a messy and fractured relationship. Was Mama June Shannon able to make amends with her daughter before she passed away? Keep reading for a closer look at their messy relationship and whether they patched things up.
Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell Dead At 29
Sadly, Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell received a diagnosis of stage 4 adrenal cancer in January of this year. Earlier today, her mother broke the tragic news that her daughter passed away yesterday at Mama June’s home.
Fortunately, Anna passing away at her mother’s house gives lots of fans peace of mind. Peace of mind that mother and daughter were able to make amends before her passing away.
With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM.”
A Closer Look At Their Fractured Relationship
As fans know, Anna lived with her grandmother for a few years. In 2012, she attempted to move back in with Mama June. That, however, was short-lived. Anna and Mama June went on to be estranged for six years before making amends before her passing.
Back in 2003, Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell moved out of her mother’s home. Instead, she lived with her grandmother. Anna claimed that Mama June’s live-in boyfriend at the time, Mark McDaniel, assaulted her.
In 2014, Anna told People Magazine that McDaniel tried to touch her and do other things to her when she was just eight. Sadly, she tried to tell her mother. But, her mother refused to believe her and sided with her boyfriend.
“A week or so after it happened, I talked to Mama and she was upset, crying and saying, ‘I don’t believe you, I don’t believe you, why would you do this to me?'”
Sadly, Anna added that her mother said there was nothing she could do about it if she didn’t see it happen. So, not feeling safe under her mother’s roof, Anna went to live with her grandmother instead.
Lawsuit For Lack Of Payment
Before the premiere of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo in 2012, Anna decided to move back in with her mother. She realized she needed to try to put the past in the past and fix her relationship.
By 2015, Mama June and Anna’s relationship soured. Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell filed a lawsuit against her mother claiming she owed her money for her appearances on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. In total, Anna alleged her mother owed her and her daughter $300K.
Anna later revealed the lawsuit against her mother never accomplished anything. Sadly, she reached a point where she gave up because she knew fighting over money would never resolve things with her mother.
Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell & Mama June Reconnect
When Anna received her devastating cancer diagnosis, this broken family put aside their differences to support her. Sitting down with Daily Mail, Mama June Shannon confirmed she was spending time with her daughter while she received treatments for her cancer.
Honestly, the people that have been there for her since she’s been diagnosed is me and Justin, Eldridge and the girls. There’s no other family that come up there and sit with her during her treatments.
She clarified: “There is nobody that comes and checks to make sure that she’s good, to make sure that she got everything. It’s literally me, Justin, Pumpkin (Lauren Efird), Honey Boo Boo (Alana Thompson), Jessica. That’s it.”
Fans of Mama June Shannon and her family are heartbroken over the passing of Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell. They, however, find comfort in knowing Mama June did make amends with her daughter before she died.
