‘Golden Bachelor’ Gerry Turner Reflects On Dating Failures
Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner is opening up and reflecting on his dating failures he’s experienced following his wife’s death. He believed he would be ready to date a year after her death. However, he shared that wasn’t the case at all. What did he have to say especially with new allegations that surfaced saying he was in another relationship within a few months of Toni’s death? Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner reflects on dating failures
People caught up with Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner ahead of Thursday night’s big season finale. He tried dating and even ventured a little into online dating but overall nothing worked out.
He said, “I’ve dated a number of times since Toni’s passed, more recently than back closer to when she’s passed. For one reason or another, the attempts didn’t work out. I could give you a wide range of reasons, but it doesn’t really matter.”
Gerry went on to say that he believed that if he grieved the loss of Toni for a year he’d be ready to date again. However, he learned that was not the case at all.
After three years, Gerry says he went to speak with a grief counselor to help him deal with losing his wife of 43 years. He said, “It was a difficult time. I finally decided, ‘It’s time for me to go see a grief counselor,’ because I wasn’t sure I was on track. I wasn’t sure I was mending properly. It was probably a life changer for me because I remember having two sessions with the counselor, and he goes, ‘You’re fine. You just got to give yourself credit for being OK.’”
Gerry did find a good friend from his dating attempts. He and his lady friend knew a romantic relationship wasn’t going to happen but they also knew their friendship was real so they held onto that.
He never found success in dating after Toni. Gerry said, “One failure led to another for a variety of reasons. It was actually about three and a half or four years, I just finally realized that, ‘OK, I’m happy with myself. If I am going to be alone, I can deal with it.’”
Now he has two women wanting to spend forever with him
Tonight, fans of The Golden Bachelor will see Gerry Turner choose between Leslie Fhima and Theresa Nist. One of the women will go home brokenhearted.
