A bombshell has just been dropped on fans of Shark Tank — Mark Cuban announced that Season 16 will be his final season with the series.

As fans know, the 65-year-old businessman first made a guest appearance on the series during Season 2. The following year, he became a regular shark on the series. He has been a popular staple in the series ever since. Understandably this is a huge loss for the series. Likewise, Mark Cuban is leaving behind hefty shoes for production to fill.

Mark Cuban Exits After Season 16

During an interview with the Showtime podcast All The Smoke, Mark Cuban announced that Season 16 will be his final season with Shark Tank.

Putting it simply, Mark noted that it was just time for him to walk away from the series. He, however, made a point to clarify that he still loves the show even though he’s ready to walk away.

I love [the show] because it sends the message the American dream is alive and well. I feel like in doing Shark Tank all these years, we’ve trained multiple generations of entrepreneurs that if somebody can come from Iowa or Sacramento or wherever, and show up on the carpet of Shark Tank and show their business and get a deal, it’s going to inspire generations of kids.

Not A Total Shock To Fans?

As TV Shows Ace reported just two months ago, fans have suspected Mark Cuban was on his way out the door for a while now. Back when speculation first swirled, Mark hinted that Season 15 could be his final season. He explained that walking away from the show was really all about his children. the businessman wanted to have free time to spend with his children. And, he was ready to leave the show if it meant freeing up his schedule for his children.

Fortunately, however, he has confirmed one more season.

Mark Cuban’s Exit Not Official?

According to TV Line, ABC has declined to comment on Mark confirming his exit from Shark Tank at this time. One of the outlet’s sources connected to the show, however, says fans should pump the brakes on mourning his exit from the series just yet. The source pointed out that it wasn’t the first time Mark has claimed he was leaving the show.
