Dean McDermott ditched his five children and his estranged wife, Tori Spelling, for Thanksgiving this year.
Instead, he decided to spend the holiday focusing on himself and his sobriety. He, however, wasn’t hiding the fact that he was away from Tori and his children for the holidays. In fact, he very openly posted that he was doing Thanksgiving at a sober house this year.

Dean McDermott Ditches Kids, Does Thanksgiving At Sober House
The 57-year-old actor uploaded a video to Instagram to wish his followers a Happy Thanksgiving. He shared that he had a lot to be thankful for with his sobriety and his children being at the top of the list. Sadly, he was not spending the holiday with his children this year. Instead, he planned to celebrate with his housemates at a sober living facility called Freedom House.
He penned in the caption of his video: “HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!! So much to be thankful for!!! Have fun and be safe out there.”

He Was Ripped For Ditching His Children
Unfortunately, his video was NOT well-received by those who follow him on Instagram. One individual questioned where his children were and why he didn’t spend Thanksgiving with them. The same individual posted again noting that no one wanted to hear him preach. Another individual said he should be thankful for Tori Spelling as she was taking care of his children for him.
Fortunately, not everyone dropped negative comments on his post. There were some individuals who were ready to celebrate sobriety with him.
