‘Yellowstone’ Was Canceled Before Introducing New Dutton Son

Yellowstone is ending with Season 5, Part 2. This means that Taylor Sheridan is going to tie up some loose ends. Also, Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton III is inevitably going to die.

However, what could have happened if Paramount kept the show running into Season 6 or Season 7? Thanks to a recent interview, fans know about a possible new Dutton son and story arc.

Here is what has been revealed.

Yellowstone Season 6 Could Have Introduced Dutton Son

Taylor Sheridan never intended to end Yellowstone in Season 5. However, the show’s creator has never elaborated on what he wanted to do if the series continued for another season or two.

Now, fans of the top series on cable have some insights into Sheridan’s plans for the future. That includes another Dutton brother.

According to Taste Of Country, Christian singer Cory Asbury was set to join the series for Season 6 as a “long-lost Dutton brother.” Asbury, who is a GMA Dove Award-winning singer, revealed that he was set to join the series. But, it was canceled.

I was fired up about it and so bummed when it canceled.

That’s Hollywood! One minute you have the role of a lifetime, the next minute the series is canceled. What role was Asbury scheduled to play?

Asbury, who spoke to Dutton Rules podcast host Adison Haager on an Instagram Q&A, revealed something very intriguing. “I was supposed to be Kayce’s long-lost brother.” Unfortunately, he did not disclose any more details.

Christian Singer Was Set To Move To Montana To Film Yellowstone

How serious was this Yellowstone gig? According to Cory Asbury, he had to talk it over with his family. Moreover, once they gave him the okay, he was prepared to move them to Montana.

We were gonna move to Montana for a full year. We were ready…Anna gave me the OK and our kids were like, ‘Ok, cool, we’ll live in Montana.’

Cory Asbury Was Supposed To Meet With Taylor Sheridan And Luke Grimes

Now that Yellowstone is canceled, Christian singer Cory Asbury has been forthcoming with information on his intended role as a Dutton son. That includes meeting with Luke Grimes and creator Taylor Sheridan. Unfortunately, this never came to fruition.

But, before things went south with the Paramount series, Asbury was told he could not talk about his role. Now, this just gives fans another reason to mourn the death of the series.

Who Is The Mystery Dutton Son?

Now, Yellowstone fans can only guess who this mystery son was. Did John Dutton III have a child with another woman? Did Evelyn and John Dutton lose a child, or was one of their sons kidnapped? Subsequently, another possible scenario offered was that the Duttons gave up this son for adoption.

Lastly, Yellowstone fans, who do you think this Dutton son could have been?
