‘RHOBH’ Is Erika Jayne Changing Her Last Name?
While her ex-husband is dealing with serious legal troubles, Erika Jayne has pondered a last name change.
Sometimes a change of scenery is exactly what a person needs to get a fresh start. For others, something as small as a change in hair color is all they need for their do-over. And then somewhere in-between is the often effective name change. For Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne, a name change was thoroughly considered for her desire to start anew.
The Issues Surrounding A Possible Last Name Change
In November 2020, Erika Jayne announced that she had separated from her husband Tom Girardi, and filed for divorce. The following month, a lawsuit was brought against the couple alleging they had embezzled funds meant for families of the victims of the fatal 2018 Lion Air plane crash. Girardi, a Los Angeles-based attorney, was accused of funneling more than $20 million of victims’ compensation to EJ Global, a company set up to finance Erika Jayne’s entertainment and singing career.
Erika Jayne has been engaged in a lengthy battle to distance herself from Girardi’s alleged fraud. In August 2022, Erika Jayne was cleared of any wrongdoing in one lawsuit. Despite scoring a legal victory, Erika Jayne is still named in an additional lawsuit. As Girardi’s legal troubles loom over Erika Jayne’s head, she has considered distancing herself from her ex-husband even more.

While speaking at BravoCon 2023, Erika Jayne was asked if she had ever considered changing her last name. “I did think of all of that, I thought of all of this,” she said. “I realized I didn’t like any of my last names. I’d like to go just by Erika, but that’s simply not possible. Considering all the legal things that are going on right now, yes I would love to but it’s such a f***** process for me right now, it’s almost not worth it,” Erika Jayne admitted. “But thank you, I definitely thought about it.”
Pressing Forward Despite The Controversy
Despite the legal battles that her ex-husband is currently facing, Erika Jayne remains hopeful for the future. She is currently starring in her own Vegas show Bet It All on Blonde. The show is featured at House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay through mid-December. Additionally, it was announced that Erika Jayne will be featured in her spinoff on Bravo in the Spring of 2024. Erika Jayne: Bet It All On Blonde will follow her Vegas residency and the work she’s put in to overcome her separation from Girardi.

In an interview with People, Erika Jayne is well aware of the position that she is currently in. She admits that her Vegas show is more than just about a performance. “It was a great blessing to do,” she said. “To really follow the process. It’s emotional, it’s intimate and it’s rewarding at the end. It feels really good.”
Erika Jayne says that she never thought it would be possible to find herself on something of a comeback tour. “In the darkest of times I never thought that there’s a moment, and I think I speak about it in the doc, where I didn’t know if being back on stage was even possible,” she says. “And here I am in the biggest show of my life. So that just shows you how quickly things can turn around.”
