The night was full of fun individual routines as well as team performances. But at the end of the night, who came out on top?
DWTS contestants paid tribute to iconic music videos
Marvel actress Xochitl Gomez made fans incredibly nervous ahead of tonight’s episode. She recently revealed she took a tumble during rehearsals and sprained her ankle. Thankfully, the injury was nothing more than a sprain.
The 17-year-old and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy went on to pull off a stunning Jazz routine to Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl.” Once again, they received cheers from the audience and high scores from the judges. For their individual routine, they earned a 34/40 from the judges.
As for the top score of the night, reality star Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov took home a 37/40 for their Cha-cha-cha to “I’m a Slave 4 You” by Britney Spears. Before the performance, Ariana said she loved learning the moves from the video back in 2001. She felt honored to put her own spin on Britney’s iconic routine.
In a recent interview, Ariana admitted she’s really feeling a lot of pressure to win. Without a doubt, earning such high scores from judges are pushing her harder to succeed.
This week, Dancing With The Stars also added fun team routines into the mix. The top eight couples broke into teams of four pairs to pay tribute to more music videos. Team “Team Young’n Style” earned a perfect 40/40 for their routine to “Gangnam Style” by Psy while Team “4 Everybody” received a 37/40 for the routine to “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” by Backstreet Boys. The members of team “Young’n Style” earned the bonus points from the battle.
After the team routines, Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy tied for the top spot on the leaderboard with Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov.
Another couple left the competition tonight
Although audience members loved watching the top eight perform, it was time to say goodbye to another pair at the end. Lele Pons and Brandon Armstrong performed very well, but it appears their time in the competition has come to a close. Without a doubt, they will be missed.
