Reba McEntire has saved her best country artists to battle it out on The Voice. Dylan Carter and Tom Nitti duet Cody Johnson’s “Til You Can’t,” a successful pairing that impressed all the coaches. Throughout their performance, the coaches were left in awe. All four stood and clapped when they finished.

The Voice Coaches Leave Reba McEntire To Choose Her Winner Alone

Former One Direction band member, Niall Horan, was left with goosebumps as Carter and Nitti harmonized perfectly together on a song that clearly meant a lot to them. Like Horan, coach Gwen Stefani was also taken aback by their voices. She says, “Dylan, the way that you were singing to Reba, that was just such an adorable moment. Your voice is ridiculous. It’s so beautiful. You’re 20 years old and you’re able to emote so well. Tom, I just kept getting blown away because to emote the way you did at the end, it just kept building and building.”

Horan and Stefani felt that the choice as to who would be moving on to Knockouts was up to McEntire. Even John Legend was no help to McEntire, though he felt that Nitti did not start off as strong, saying, “Tom, at the beginning, I felt like he may be hiding behind the guitar a little bit, and then you showed us this whole other side of you. You turned on the heat and it just felt like a revelation, like ‘Oh, there’s Tom.’ And Dylan, you were just consistently outstanding the entire time. Your voice is wonderful. You were like spiritually in tune with what you were singing.”

Reba Picks Her Winner

Without any help from her fellow coaches, McEntire was left to critique her artists on her own. She loved both artists, seeing Carter and Nitti as great and talented singers. She found the two singers made a great duo. Despite their styles being so different, they complemented each other. “Dylan and Tom could be the next Brooks & Dunn. They are just so talented, but I had to choose.”

It was a tough decision for her, but in the end, Reba chose Nitti, “because he has continued to impress me. I love his soul country. It just made my heart feel good.”  While Carter will now be leaving The Voice, the coaches were upset that he is leaving. “It’s always so difficult to see talented people go home,” Horan says, and Stefani wishes she had a steal left to take Carter.

Nitti will be moving on to the next round, the Knockout. Catch new episodes of The Voice on Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC.
