Annie Leal is the entrepreneur who helped create this product. She was born and raised in Mexico, and this sauce was a staple of her household meals. Sadly, her father ended up diagnosed with diabetes 10 years ago, and it meant that this sauce was a health risk. As her father adjusted his diet, Annie set out to find a way to keep Chamoy as something they could continue to enjoy. Annie said it took her 44 different attempts to perfect the recipe for her version of the sauce.
Annie was able to keep the flavor of Chamoy, but she removed sugar from the ingredients. Instead of sugar, Annie uses monk fruit, a natural sweetener with no calories. It also includes chile peppers native to Mexico, lime powder, citric acid, and xanthan gum to give it its flavor.
Annie then shared her journey in creating this product on TikTok, and it became a viral sensation. Suddenly, Annie was selling out of the product thanks to TikTok, selling her first 750 bottles in less than a week. Her dad is now the face of the company. Her mother and sister run operations and control the finances.
