‘Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond Spills 50-Lb. Weight Loss Secrets
Ree Drummond of The Pioneer Woman has been on a weight loss journey since January 2021. The 54-year-old blogger and TV personality has always been very open about her diet and lifestyle choices as she’s navigated this journey. Furthermore, she’s always made it a point to clarify that looking good was only a small portion of the battle. Ultimately, it was “feeling good” that she wanted to achieve.
To date, Ree Drummond has shed 50 pounds. And she recently sat down with Today for an exclusive interview on some of her weight loss secrets.

Ree Drummond of The Pioneer Woman believes there is not one right answer or one best path for weight loss. In fact, she admits she tackled her issues with weight in several different ways. Fortunately, she was very happy to share all of her secrets with the hopes of them helping someone else on a journey to not only look better but to feel better too.
She shared at the beginning of the interview: “The biggest takeaway, which I don’t always adhere to, is trying not to waste calories. I could eat a plate of delicious food with different elements and colors and flavor, or I could eat a donut.”
Ree Drummond explained that people often don’t realize counting calories doesn’t mean starving or eating bland food. It is all about making wise choices that allow a person to feel satisfied.
Now, Ree Drummond did joke that there are situations where that donut definitely feels more satisfying than the plate of healthier options.
She Took A Relatable Approach
The real reason Ree Drummond of The Pioneer Woman’s weight loss approach is so successful is because it is relatable. Ree never went on an extreme crash diet, she didn’t explore intermittent fasting. And, most importantly, she didn’t buy into any expensive weight loss program or product.
Ree Drummond found success and lost 50 pounds by pumping her diet full of protein and veggies. She removed alcohol from her diet. Furthermore, she limited how many sweets she ate. Ree Drummond enjoys daily walks with her furbabies. And, she picked up a rowing machine that has really helped her tone up her muscles. She admits the rowing machine is the perfect option for someone who is impatient when it comes to exercising.
She seized that moment in the interview to call attention to her new cookbook full of recipes for someone who is a bit impatient in the kitchen. Fortunately, the book just came out yesterday.
