Cory Wharton Talks To Ryder About Calling Zach ‘Dad’

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter Cheyenne Floyd and Cory Wharton share daughter Ryder. Cheyenne Floyd is now married to her husband Zach Davis whom she shares a 2.5-year-old son Ace. The problem is Ryder calls Zach by his name most of the time and now little Ace is calling dad “Zach”. The family all got together to have a chat about what is happening in their family, and Cory tells Ryder if she wants to she could call Zach “Dad”.

Coparenting At Its Best

Cheyenne Floyd is now married to Zach Davis and Cory Wharton is now in a long-term relationship with Taylor Selfridge. The four do their best to co-parent Ryder, whom Cheyenne and Cory share. In the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter season finale The four meet to talk about Ryder calling Zach dad. Ryder had expressed distress over accidentally calling Zach dad and the family just wanted Ryder to be comfortable.

Cory Wharton had a conversation with Ryder about calling Zach Davis dad. He told Ryder “You can call Zach dad if you feel like you want to, but not because you felt like you had to do that.”  Cheyenne Floyd and Taylor Selfridge both agreed with Cory. The family agrees as their family dynamics change Ryder may change how she chooses to address everyone, and that is ok. Ryder has bonus parents in her life, and she may want to call Zach dad or call Taylor mom down the road. The family seems to be co-parenting happily and healthily for Ryder.

Cheyenne And Cory Speak Up

The four parents want to make sure that nothing feels bad for Ryder. Mom Cheyenne Floyd says she does not want anything to feel awkward for her. In addition, Cheyenne says “We wanted to make sure that we’re all on the same page”. Which is super important when co-parenting with other people. Cheyenne also says “I do think because Ryder is getting older and figuring out more about her family dynamic these conversations are going to come up. I just want to make sure that we’re all comfortable to have them with each other.” And she is right as Ryder gets older she will have to figure out the new family dynamics.

Cory Wharton says “I want what’s best for my kid and what’s easiest for her. If she feels comfortable calling you (Zach) dad, then be my guest.” In addition, Cory goes on to say “At the end of the day, Ryder knows who her biological father is, me. I don’t need her to prove that by not calling you (Zach) dad, or calling you Zach over and over. If she feels comfortable calling you (Zach) dad, I’m okay with that. The last thing I want is for her to be stressed out.” Sounds like great co-parenting.

This was the season finale of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. So far, they haven’t shared if this show will be renewed or not.
