‘Today’ Brings In Big Guns To Replace Al Roker
Today Show fan-favorites Al Roker and Craig Melvin were both notably missing from the morning talk show on Monday morning. Instead of seeing Al and Craig, another familiar face took their place. Keep reading to see where in the world Al Roker is and who they have standing in for him.
Where Is Craig Melvin & Al Roker?
Right now, it isn’t known what Craig Melvin is up to. However, Al Roker has been sharing updates on social media on his whereabouts.
Al is visiting his daughter, Leila, in Paris. He returned Monday afternoon but was not back in time to be on the morning show. Prior to leaving Paris, he posted a photo roundup summing up his trip to see his daughter.

The post included several photos of Al and Leila in different cafes throughout the city. “Just got back from spending a long weekend with @cleilapatra in her adopted city of #paris. Weather was perfect, but the company even better,” he captioned the post.
Big Changes For Al Roker & Family
A lot is changing for Al Roker and his family right now. Recently, it was announced that his wife, Deborah Roberts, will be David Muir’s co-host on ABC’s 20/20.
When she shared the news last week, Deborah said that she was “thrilled and humbled” to be chosen for the role. “We are proud to carry on the tradition of in-depth reporting on this venerable newsmagazine which has revealed truths and opened hearts and minds for 46 years, beginning with the great Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs,” she wrote.
Host David Muir seems to be just as excited to have her on the show. In his own post on social, he wrote, “If you hear cheering on New York City’s Upper West Side – that’s me. @debrobertsabc in her new role – an all new @abc2020 Friday.”

A Familiar Face Sits In For Al
While Craig Melvin and Al Roker were absent from Today on Monday, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones took their place alongside another familiar face. They were joined by Weekend Today host Peter Alexander.

Peter and Dylan are used to working together. Prior to taking on her current role on Today, she worked on the weekend show for about 10 years. “It’s just like the old days!” Dylan said excitedly as Peter was introduced to the viewers.
Towards the beginning of the show, he opened up a bit about how his weekend went. He joked that he was able to stay up late, until 8:45 p.m., because there was no Saturday show this past weekend. It’s possible viewers will be seeing more of Peter Alexander in the future to stand in for the morning hosts.
