My 600-lb Life alum Karina Garcia had one of the most successful journeys in Season 6. Just like the other patients of Dr. Now, the Texas native suffered from childhood trauma and used food as her comfort. She never received emotional support from her parents and was already 250 pounds at 15 years old. She sought Dr. Now’s help at 38 and weighed 633 lbs. With the help of a strict diet and exercise, Karina was able to drop 235 pounds. She didn’t have to go through bariatric surgery as she already had one from her past attempt to lose weight, which ultimately failed. Due to this, the My 600-lb Life alum was thankful for the progress she has made since meeting Dr. Now. She has also kept in touch with the fans since her successful weight loss journey. In June 2019, the former reality TV personality shared a stunning photo of herself.
Karina Is No Longer Stuck In Wheelchair
Karina also made a return episode in 2019, where she shared exciting news about her journey. According to the My 600-lb Life alum, she’s no longer in a wheelchair. However, she still uses a walker and revealed that she has struggled to lose weight since her last visit to Dr. Now.
Regardless, some of her IG photos from 2019 show that she can now drive by herself without being assisted by her parents. She has yet to share her current weight. However, Karina Garcia’s boyfriend has helped her maintain a good scale despite her struggles.
My 600-lb Life: Karina Garcia Got Into A Relationship With Co-Star
Karina surprised many after getting into a relationship with her co-star, Gilbert Donovan Jr. He became the My 600-lb Life alum’s personal trainer after finishing her journey with Dr. Now. In August 2021, the man from San Antonio shared a sweet birthday message for his girlfriend and cheered for her physical goals. “Happy Birthday to my beautiful goofy Karina Garcia you have my heart always and forever love. PS I dare you to post that pic of us punk. I’m proud of your weight loss,” he said.
Gilbert made a name for himself in the show as the controversial husband of Lupe Donovan. He allegedly pressured his then-wife to do intimate activities after her bariatric surgery. It also appears that he and Karina Garcia are currently living together on a property just a 30-minute drive from Lupe’s home.
