‘When Calls The Heart’ Show Creator Talks Cancellation Plans
When Calls The Heart Season 10 has only a couple of episodes left. Therefore, it makes sense that Hearties are already talking about the future of the series. How much longer will these devoted fans get to enjoy the stories about Hope Valley, and their favorite residents of this Western Canadian town?
One of the show’s co-creators recently spoke to the fans about the future of the series, including cancellation plans.
When Calls The Heart Creator Talks About Future Of Hallmark Series
There has been a lot of talk about the future of When Calls The Heart. Already, it is Hallmark’s longest-running series ever. As Hearties gathered in Canada for the annual Hearties Family Reunion, there was an opportunity to discuss the future of the series.
Attending was Janette Oke, the author of the beloved books, as well as the series co-creators Michael Landon Jr. and Brian Bird. Therefore, who better to address this question than the most vocal of the show’s creators, Brian Bird?
At the seventh annual Hearties Family Reunion, Brian Bird talked about any news on When Calls The Heart cancellation plans.
Firstly, he applauded the loyal fans. They keep the show trending on social media. Moreover, they discuss the show on all social media platforms. “As I’ve said many times over the last decade, you Hearties are the reason for the show.”
Next, Brian Bird talked about his goal for the show. How many seasons does he want the show to last? He used a totally different series to reveal his personal goal.
I think one of the big reasons that the show is still going strong is all of you. And I believe that long after the show has ended its run–which we hope is many, many seasons from now, we’re going to try to catch up with The Simpsons, which is in Season 43, or something like that. So you got a ways to go..we’re gonna try.
While Brian missed by a few years, as The Simpsons has been on for 34 years, he seems to envision Little Jack and Marigold as adults. That sounds like a wonderful vision.
Hallmark Makes Decisions On Series Length
Will Brian Bird be able to keep When Calls The Heart going for 30 seasons and beyond? That is not a decision he can make. In this same speech, he revealed that Hallmark makes all of these important decisions.
The network orders a certain number of episodes. We, the production company, produce those episodes for the network. So, it’s really not up to us how many.
Now, the question is if there will be more episodes in 2024.
Will When Calls The Heart Return for Season 11?
When Calls The Heart Season 10 is nearly finished. The final episode entitled “Starry Nights” airs on October 15. Will this be the end of the Hallmark series? Or could WCTH be renewed for Season 11? Did Hallmark decide the future of their long-running series?
The good news is that back in February, Hallmark renewed When Calls The Heart for Season 11. Moreover, they began filming Season 11 in the Vancouver, BC, area in July. Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, they applied and were granted a special waiver to film despite the strike.
Although Hallmark has not revealed when they plan to premiere Season 11 in 2024, the good news is that it will be ready. Many other cable and linear series are still in limbo. Therefore, Hearties are blessed to have their beloved return.
