‘My 600-lb Life’: Tracey Matthews’ Shocking Transformation

My 600-lb Life alum Tracey Matthews is one of the most pitiful patients of Dr. Now. She was 44 years old when she appeared in Season 4 and weighed 606 pounds. But aside from her size, she also had trouble with lymphedema, which caused her to lose mobility. It also got infected later on, making her journey more challenging. However, the Ohio native didn’t give up and worked hard to turn her life around. Keep reading to see how she’s doing today.

My 600-lb Life: Tracey Matthews’ Inspiring Weight Loss Journey

Tracey had to make a 20-hour drive from Ohio to Houston in order to meet Dr. Now. After receiving her programs, the My 600-lb Life immediately worked on herself and eventually lost over 90 pounds, which qualifies her for bariatric surgery. She had some ups and downs during the early days of her journey, including regaining the pounds she just lost.

But she worked even harder and shed 167 pounds in just nine months. What’s more surprising is that she never had the traditional weight loss surgery. Instead, Dr. Now only removed excess skin from her legs. Tracey has also kept in touch with the fans on social media. Some of her photos show that she was able to maintain a healthy weight after the show.

Tracey Is Still Living With Lymphedema

In 2020, Tracey did a Q&A on Facebook where she shared big updates about her journey. According to the My 600-lb Life alum, she lived with lymphedema for years, but the pain is no longer horrible. She also added that the mass from her legs that was taken out during the show was such a painful experience.

The former TLC star has yet to share if she will ever get the remaining masses in her legs removed. Though it seems she’s still saving funds to do so. During her Q&A, she revealed that the show’s patients were only given a talent fee of $1500. They were also promised to receive a $2500 allowance but never received any. Tracey Matthews added that they only had $12 when they arrived in Houston and had to figure out everything without the producer’s assistance.

Aside from losing weight, Tracey has also been busy hustling online. She currently sells accessories and beauty products on FB. The My 600-lb Life alum has also been a supportive mother. Many of her photos were from her kids’ school activities.

Tracey Matthews has yet to share her current weight. But it seems making money has been one of her top priorities. Nevertheless, she has already inspired many with her hard work. Her last TV appearance also showed that her mobility has improved despite still having to use a walker.
