Sharna Burgess Stunned She Isn’t Invited Back To ‘DWTS’ Season 32
While fans are very excited to see the new season of Dancing With The Stars, there is a bit of disappointment that one familiar face won’t be returning. As several new contestants join the line-up, sadly, Sharna Burgess will not be on the show this season.
DWTS Partners Over The Years
While she was on the show, Sharna Burgess had 14 professional dance partners. One of her obvious favorites is Brian Austin Green, her show partner and life partner. As for accomplished partnerships, she and Bobby Bones won the Mirrorball Trophy together in Season 27. Surprisingly, she just recently gave a little insight on one of those partners that she admittedly “absolutely hated.”
In June of 2022, Sharna Burgess and Brian Austin Green welcomed their new son, Zane Walker. The couple met each other through their business manager. During Season 30, they were partnered together for the DWTS dance competition. Just before Season 31, Burgess shared a video on Instagram explaining her decision to not appear on the series.
Sharna Burgess’ Leave Of Absence
“I have some news that I have to tell you guys because I keep getting so many DMs about it,” she said in the Instagram video. “After long conversations and lots of thinking and trying to sit with what was right, and many conversations with Deena Katz, who’s our casting director but also like a second mom to me, I made the really hard decision to not do this season of Dancing with the Stars. There’s been a list that has been released saying that I would be a pro and I won’t be.”
At that time, she said, “I will be there in some capacity and we’re still talking about that. I’m at one hundred percent capacity with my body. I feel fit, I feel strong, I’m so ready to dance. I’m about to go to the gym right now. We’re going to talk about what that means and how I can be a part of it.”
Ultimately, Sharna Burgess said she wasn’t willing to be away from her newborn for hours on end. “I was not ready to spend at minimum 10 hours a day away from Zane,” she stated. “I say ten hours because it’s not just the time in the room. It’s the travel time, the prep time, the hair and makeup time. Sundays and Mondays are full days away. I’m a full-time breastfeeding mama and not only that, I just, I am so in love with just being a mom.”
Sharna Burgess Explains The Shock She Experienced
Even though Sharna Burgess took her leave of absence to stay with her baby, she was under the impression that she would be back on the show as soon as she was able. In her new iHeart Radio podcast Old-Ish, Burgess expressed how she temporarily took a leave of absence last year but fully expected to return to the series.
Unquestionably, the shock factor set in when Sharna Burgess realized she wasn’t being invited back to Dancing With The Stars Season 32. Unlike her costars, Burgess’ phone didn’t ring with the anticipated phone they were receiving. This was how she gained awareness that she was being excluded from the new season. It was like a punch in the gut.
Sharna Burgess opened up about the disappointment she feels since she isn’t included in the upcoming season of the competitive reality show. “Last season I was supposed to come back but Zane was only eight weeks old… It just felt like I needed to sit in motherhood with Zane,” she said in a discussion with Brian Austin Green. “It was always, ‘I want to come back next year,’ and ‘Of course, we love you, we’ll always have you.’” Needless to say, this has left the star saddened by being left out.
