As many know, Abby Lee Miller was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. For her, the cancer was in her spine. While she went into remission in September of that same year, she has been restricted to a wheelchair ever since.

Dancing Dream

Abby Lee Miller was known for being a hardcore choreographer and coach for her dance troupe. As a result, they became huge reality TV stars in Dance Moms. The show debuted in 2011 and ran for eight seasons until 2019. Abby Lee Miller led the Abby Lee Dance Studio until 2016. Sadly, the dream began to dim in 2017 when she was sentenced to a year in prison for bankruptcy fraud.

What Are The Physical Restrictions Abby Lee Miller Is Facing?

Following chemotherapy, Abby Lee Miller broke four bones in her right leg. The chemo made her bones extremely brittle and easily broken. She told ET that these broken bones have been a huge setback in her ability to walk again.

“[During COVID I had] another surgery on my spine — my lumbar region that was the original problem years ago — and that’s why I went to that doctor because my leg was going numb when I was driving in all this LA traffic so I knew something was wrong,” Abby Lee told Hollywood Life.

Admittedly, she had Spondylolisthesis and her back was deteriorating faster and faster. Pursuing the issue, she went to “in-patient rehab” and then required restorative surgery. She let people know she had every intention of walking again though. She also said she needs a coach who is like her to get her back on track. “I need an Abby Lee person to whip my butt into shape and make me the best I can be.”

What Is Abby Lee Miller Up To Now?

Her latest update shows she still has a great sense of humor. In March 2023 Abby Lee Miller discussed with ET  the current status of her health struggles and upcoming procedures. She revisited the “freak accident” that started the challenges that are standing in her way of walking again. She referred to herself as having a ‘bionic’ leg, joking she “can leap buildings in a single bound.”

Today, Abby Lee Miller continues to teach young dancers. She even thinks she would make a good DWTS judge. Furthermore, she now focuses on Instagram and podcasting.
