‘Bringing Up Bates’ Fans Slam Katie Bates For Mistreating Dog?
Bringing Up Bates fans are slamming Katie Bates Clark online and claiming that she has been mistreating her dog. She and her husband, Travis Clark, have made some decisions about their dog, Remi, and some of their followers strongly disagree with what they’ve been doing. What’s going on? Why are fans slamming Katie Bates Clark for mistreating her dog?
Before the couple got married in December 2021, Travis got a Goldendoodle named Remi. His parents, Mike and Carla Clark, breed Goldendoodles. Shortly after Katie and Travis got married, they decided to breed their dog as well.
Remi had her first litter in July 2022, so it’s been just over a year since she last gave birth. Fans were livid because of the pet overpopulation problem and because Travis and Katie were putting their dog through pregnancy and birth. Plus, many fans accused them of breeding her for the money.
Now, the couple has bred Remi again, and earlier this month, she gave birth to four puppies. This sparked the criticism once again as fans questioned whether this was ethical, especially with the cost of Goldendoodles and with the number of dogs in animal shelters.
Bringing Up Bates fans accuse Travis & Katie of mistreating their dog.
On Instagram on the Duggar Bates Confessions page, one fan pointed out that Travis and Katie had bred Remi again. The original poster also mentioned that the Bates family used to keep their dogs outdoors, as shown on their TV show. One fan commented, “Doodles have a lot of problems and to just ignore that is very unethical.”
Someone else chimed in, “The only problem I have with them being breeders is that I doubt they took the time to educate themselves.”
Another upset fan added, “This is immorally wrong and cruel to the dog. Making money off the back of a helpless vulnerable animal. That depends on you for loving care. And you’re just using their womb to sell out the babies. I feel so sad for Remi mothering the puppies, and having them taken away from her at a young age.”
Some fans are pointing out that rescues and shelters are out of space and are being forced to euthanize animals. The ASPCA notes that 390,000 dogs are euthanized in shelters in the US each year.

So far, Travis and Katie haven’t addressed the criticism. Though they have received a handful of negative comments, many of their fans think the puppies are adorable and don’t see a problem with them breeding Remi.
