Whoopi Goldberg is doing big things without The View.
Amid the cast’s hiatus from the talk show, Whoopi has made a huge career move. The news broke this week that she’s being honored in a very special way. She will receive the American Icon Award from New York’s Fashion Group International (FGI). The big event is a fall gala at The Plaza Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. It takes place in October, so it’s just a couple of months away.
At the FGI Night of Stars, several big-name celebrities will be recognized for their accomplishments and will take home awards. This is the 39th annual FGI gala.
With or without The View, Whoopi is certainly keeping busy and staying in the headlines. Fans are interested to see her outfit choice and other details about her appearance at this gala. It may be a topic of discussion on an upcoming episode of The View as well.
Does this mean she’s done at The View?
Fortunately, Whoopi Goldberg making big career moves isn’t a sign she’s leaving the talk show. She and some of her co-hosts have found other opportunities to fill their time until the new season begins. As we reported, Alyssa Farah Griffin made an appearance on CNN this week.
Fans were also concerned when a new preview seemingly excluded Whoopi until the final few seconds. While watching the video on social media, fans asked whether Whoopi would be a part of the new season. Right before the trailer came to an end, the actress popped up, proving that she’s not leaving the show after all.

The cast for the upcoming season includes all of the same ladies from last season. Whoopi will return to the stage, along with Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin.
