What ‘Jeopardy!’ Producers Said About Mayim Bialik’s Future
A recent Jeopardy! promo celebrating Season 39 concerned some fans about Mayim Bialik and her future on the show. The promo had several contestants from last season in the image. It also showed Ken Jennings in front of them all. However, Mayim was not on the poster.
Here is what Jeopardy! parent company Sony had to say about the situation.
Is Mayim Bialik coming back to Jeopardy!?
The image was an ad for an article that Jeopardy!‘s social media team put together about the 10 best social media shares from last season’s biggest moments. It included moments like the image shared on social media with James Holzhauer holding up the trophy as the Jeopardy! Masters winner. There was also a look at Amy Schneider in a bright pink dress shared on the socials to show her flair.
On top of that, there were memes and video moments shared that made the top 10 list. Jack Weller saying the plural of moose was “meese” made the cut and Ben Chan acing “Hip-Hop Names” without missing a beat was also included. The people included on the poster were all in the top 10 moments for the social media team during Jeopardy! Season 39. Ken Jennings was on there for a meme that read, “Success: How do you think Ken Jennings got so far? It’s not by slacking off.”
However, Mayim Bialik was not on the list, so she was not in the promo image. Of course, Dan Oxman was one of the top 10 moments for admitting his childhood crush on Mayim. That could have afforded her the inclusion, but it just didn’t make the cut.
However, is this a sign that Mayim Bialik is not returning to Jeopardy!? TV Line reached out to Sony to find out if Mayim was coming back for Season 39. The studio chose not to respond to the question, making her return an even more concerning question. However, the social media posts advertising the top 10 were removed from social media, possibly thanks to the backlash and misunderstanding of fans as to what it was about.
Mayim Bialik is out at Celebrity Jeopardy!
When asked previously, executive producer/showrunner Michael Davies said he stood behind both Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik. This concerned fans who take a tribalistic attitude and believe they can only like one or the other. Things might have changed since Mayim left the show when the writers began their strike to show solidarity with them.
There is a good chance Mayim won’t return as long as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are ongoing. As a result, one change already occurred. Sony already removed Bialik as host of Celebrity Jeopardy! and Ken Jennings will host that show instead when it returns on September 27. Who will appear in that – considering celebrities in the realm of actors – aren’t allowed to appear.

In my opinion the best thing for Jeopardy would be if Mayim NEVER returns to the show

I try to never miss watching Jeopardy, but if Myam Bialk is hosting I don’t mind near as much.
