Eminem Dead Trends, Memoriam Facebook Page Approaches 1M

Turns out, Marshall Bruce Mathers III is no stranger to making headlines for being dead. The singing sensation has been the victim of celebrity death hoaxes more than a few times over the year. What is unique about his situation, however, is the existence of a Facebook claiming to be a memoriam, in tribute to the incredible singer. Fast approaching one million likes, this Facebook page frequently makes claims that the rapper is dead or has recently passed away.

Now, fans of the rapper have made an effort to report the page as false news (as well as anything else they can think of). But, Facebook/Meta has done nothing to remove the page. And, the negative attention it has received has only made it continue to grow.

A New Death Hoax Makes Rounds

According to The Sun, the “about” section of the alarming Facebook page claimed that Eminem passed away over the weekend. The claim cited Saturday, August 19th as his official date of death.

The false report continued to read: “Eminem was born on October 17, 1972, in Saint Joseph. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”

Hundreds of people poured onto the wall of this Facebook page to mourn the death of this incredible rapper. Some, however, admitted they were a bit skeptical and would wait for a more official report to mourn.

A day later, on Sunday, August 20th, representatives of the rapper affirmed the news of his death making rounds was nothing more than a hoax. He was very much alive.

His reps penned in an official statement about the hoax: “He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”

As fans know, it was a little less than a year ago that the hashtag “#Ripeminem” was accidentally created on Twitter and proceeded to trend. Fortunately, fans can rest easy knowing Eminem is alive and this is nothing more than another death hoax.
