‘Today’ Hoda Kotb Shocked Over Baby Bomb Dropped

The Today Show host Hoda Kotb was shocked on the air this week as someone dropped a big baby news bomb.

As a news anchor, Hoda is used to being the one to drop information bombs on her audience. But one of Hoda’s co-hosts got her good this week. And the sudden surprise baby news caught Hoda off guard, but she was quick to recover and celebrate her co-worker’s big news. Hoda Survives A Major Milestone

On Monday, Hoda Kotb opened up on air about a major milestone she recently surpassed.

Hoda has been a host on The Today Show since 2007, but it wasn’t a work-related milestone that she marked: Hoda just celebrated her 59th birthday. While speaking on air with co-host Jenna Bush Hager, Hoda explained, “I am so happy to be 59 this year. I feel so good about it. If you’re worried about aging, and I know aging’s a thing, 59 is amazing. It’s an amazing year.”

She thoughtfully added, “When I woke up and I thought about it, I closed my eyes and I imagined and pictured what I have around me. I was thinking to myself, I’m 59 years old, I have two incredible kids, I’ve got my mom here, I’ve got my sister, my brother, nieces, sister-in-law, and I kept thinking to myself, I’m smiling. I’m closing my eyes and I’m smiling.”

And while she’s not considering it any time soon, Hoda waxed poetic on her eventual retirement from The Today Show. And she concluded, “59 is glorious!”

But 59 has come with a few surprises for Hoda. One in particular.

Today Show Radio host Holly Palmieri dropped the baby news bomb that she is expecting another child. Holly told co-hosts Hoda and Savannah Guthrie, “You’re in your pink and blue. You look like you’re at a Gender Reveal party.” Savannah laughed and responded, “Gender Reveal. Two ladies! Cat’s out of the bag for us.”

Holly seized the moment and rubbed her stomach, saying “Cat’s out of the bag for a lot of us.” A stunned Hoda and Savannah sat silent for a moment before Hoda asked, “Are you pregnant?” When Holly confirmed that she was, her co-hosts cheered and hugged her. They asked if she knew what she was having, but Holly does not know yet.

Holly then quipped that she loves being able to gain weight while pregnant and no one can say anything about it. A laughing Hoda responded, “They actually don’t notice because everyone is up and down. Congratulations!”
