Tragic breaking news for NFL fans as former running back for Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks, Alex Collins, has been confirmed dead at the age of 28. The official social media profiles for the Baltimore Ravens announced his passing and paid tribute to the incredible young talent about 20 minutes ago.

Sadly, former running back for Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks, Alex Collins, has been confirmed dead at the age of 28. The announcement confirming his passing read: “With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Alex Collins.” The tweet included a purple tribute picture with a photo of Alex as well as a written tribute to him.

Always quick to greet everyone with a smile, he was a genuinely kind person who carried a special joy and passion wherever he went. May Alex always be remembered for the light and love he brought to so many people in his life.”

John Harbaugh, head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, also issued a statement regarding Alex’s passing. John Harbaugh noted he would always remember Alex for his “uplifting spirit” and the way it “impacted everyone” that he came into contact with. As those who followed Alex Collins’ football career know, he was a star of the Arkansas Razorbacks in college. He went on to play with the NFL for a total of five seasons. He spent his first three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks drafted Alex in the 2016 NFL Draft during round 5. Alex Collins spent his other two seasons with the NFL as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

The Seattle Seahawks have also issued an official statement about their former player’s death. The team noted they were “absolutely heartbroken” to learn of his passing. See the statement below:

Geno Smith, who played on the Seattle Seahawks with Alex, said “life was crazy” as he penned a tribute to his former friend. Here’s what he had to say: “Life so crazy man. Fly high my boy until we meet again.”

Has His Cause Of Death Been Released?

Understandably, NFL fans are gutted to learn of Alex Collins’ death at the age of 28. Unfortunately, multiple outlets report his cause of death has not been made public. Most NFL fans are in agreement that he is gone far too soon. And, their thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
