On Sunday, August 13, Kelly Bates took to social media to share an important message with her followers. She posted a photo of the fires on Maui and shared how she feels about this devastating news. Kelly wrote, “Praying for the people of Maui! My heart aches seeing the news and the photos!”
She said she’s praying for the people who are affected and hope that they are protected, comforted, and strengthened. It sounds like this tragedy has hit her pretty hard, and she couldn’t help but share a message with her followers, encouraging them to pray as well.

According to USA Today, at least 96 lives have been lost due to these ongoing fires. Multiple fires began last Tuesday. Now, some residents are without food, power, housing, and other necessities. There are many fundraisers and rescue efforts underway.

In the comments section of Kelly Bates’ new Instagram post, her followers are thanking her for using her platform in this way. Many are promising to continue praying for those affected.
One Bringing Up Bates fan revealed how this hits close to home. They wrote, “Thank you for spreading the word. They need help. A relative is trying to get the word out. People are waiting for help still.”
Several of Kelly Bates’ kids, sons-in-law, and daughters-in-law are sending prayers as well. Bringing Up Bates fans are wondering if Medic Corps will go to Hawaii to assist with recovery efforts. Nathan and Lawson Bates are involved in the non-profit, which works on disaster relief. Several of the Duggars are also a part of Medic Corps. At this time, it’s unclear whether they will all make the trip to Maui, but fans think it’s time for them to step up.
