Doubling Down With the Derricos star Deon Derrico is sharing a touching story and using his platform for good. The father of 14 took to social media to raise awareness of something important to him. If you follow Deon on social media, you may know that he tends to keep things positive online. He promotes his family’s show and connects with his loyal fans. Of course, his followers enjoy seeing his posts and keeping up with his kiddos in addition to watching the show.
Deon Derrico shares a touching story and uses his platform for good.
Late on Tuesday evening, after the new episode aired on TLC, Deon took to social media to share a touching story with his followers. He also used his platform for good, giving his fans an opportunity to help out with this important cause. He shared a photo of Mama Debbie with Dawsyn. Viewers heard about Mama Debbie on the Tuesday, July 18 episode of the show and learned how she touched the Derrico family’s lives.
In his Instagram post, Deon Derrico explained, “It was Mama Debbie’s daughter Tiffany, who unfortunately passed away but the family donated her heart tissue to little Dawsyn.”
Unfortunately, Mama Debbie is fighting her own battles these days. Sadly, Debbie was in a car accident a year ago and fractured three vertebrae in her neck. She is now paralyzed from the chest down, which means she needs 24/7 care from her daughter, Tami. Debbie is in physical therapy in Clovis, California with a goal of walking again in the future. Currently, she is in physical therapy twice a week, but going more often would be beneficial. However, these costs are out of pocket, which is where the GoFundMe comes in.
According to the GoFundMe, “100% of the funds raised will be used for her physical therapy at SCI-Fit (Spinal Cord Injury Functional Integrated Therapy).”

Doubling Down With the Derricos fans pour in with donations.
In the comments section of Deon’s post, fans are leaving encouraging messages, promising to pray and donate. Just 10 hours after Deon Derrico shared Debbie’s story via social media, about 60 fans had donated to the GoFundMe. The goal is set at $10,000, and so far, nearly $2,000 has been donated by fans.
As more of his social media followers have a chance to see the post, they may also send in donations. So, hopefully, the amount of money going to Debbie will only increase. Deon may share another update with the final total raised, or maybe he will offer more details about Debbie’s progress soon.
