What Kind Of Mom Is June Shannon To Honey Boo Boo Now?
Mama June: Family Crisis Season 6 recently wrapped up and June Shannon seemed reluctant to edge closer to her youngest daughter, Alana Thomson, a.k.a Honey Boo Boo. For years, her sister Lauryn (Pumpkin) Efird and her husband Josh took over custody of the soon-to-be 18-year-old. Ahead of the finale on WEtv. Pumpkin dropped the tea that her mom seems to have stepped up her parenting game a little bit. Will it last?
June Shannon And Honey Boo Boo Went For Therapy In Season 6
In the latest season of the WETv show, fans saw Honey Boo Boo so furious with being compared to her mom that she beat a punching bag. Who can blame her? Her mother let her down during her formative teen years and blew her off in favor of drugs. Dumping Geno Doak didn’t help after they left rehab because she promptly found herself a new guy, Justin Stroud. Actually, furious fans slammed her as they preferred that she should focus on re-engaging with her daughters.
June Shannon tried to persuade her daughters that there was no way that she’d let them down again. Nonetheless, it took a lot of tears and intervention before a glimmer of trust appeared. For Pumpkin, it seemed that her mom simply didn’t care enough about her sister to even bother to open her purse strings. In fact, it became a struggle to eventually get $800 a month Meanwhile, she could spend money on Justin. Did things improve? Read on to find out.
June Shannon Steps Up Her Parenting Effort?
As Season 6 of Mama June: Family Crisis came to a close, the temperature between Pumpkin, Honey Boo Boo, and their mom started thawing a bit. In fact, speaking with PEOPLE Magazine, Lauryn felt that a lot of their thawing came only after lots of therapy. Remember, in the show, they spent a weekend in intensive therapy. Well, it sounds like they did therapy way more than what fans saw during the show.
June Shannon agreed to therapy with her daughters, and Pumpkin seemed relieved. She told the outlet, she wanted to “work through the issues instead of just bottling them back up.” Additionally, it seems that things are in a much better place. For us, “Getting to that place took a lot of time and took a lot of effort,” Pumpkin said, adding, “We had to set boundaries in between that time and we had to go to therapy and really, really work through the issues.”
Paving The Way For A New Season
June Shannon seems to be taking some of the pressure off Pumpkin when it comes to Honey Boo Boo. As it sounds like she takes a lot more interest in her youngest child, that leaves the way open for a seventh season of the WEtv show. Much more could still be incorporated with the new season. Apart from Honey Boo Boo and her mom getting along better as she goes to study nursing, her sister Chickadee’s cancer story could also play out more.
Do you think that June will stick with being part of Honey Boo Boo’s life? Or, like so many other times, will it be a short-lived step in the right direction? Let us know your thoughts and remember to come back here for more Mama June: Family Crisis news.
