Get To Know ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Gerry Turner
Fans finally got to meet the first-ever Golden Bachelor Monday morning on Good Morning America. Gerry Turner is the man of the hour and fans can’t wait to learn more about him. Keep reading to find everything revealed about The Golden Bachelor.
Get to know Gerry Turner the first Golden Bachelor
71-year-old Gerry Turner was announced as the first lead on The Golden Bachelor. The newest Bachelor franchise spinoff will premiere this fall on ABC. Set to start filming this week, Gerry will be looking for a partner who is “high energy” and perhaps plays pickleball and golf.
As for Gerry, he will turn 72 on August 7 according to Reality Steve. He is still active and outgoing himself and videos show him crazily driving an ATV, playing pickleball and spending time with his family.
He married his high school sweetheart in 1974. Gerry and Toni have two daughters, Angie and Jenny, and two granddaughters, Charlee and Payton. Sadly, Toni passed away just six weeks after she retired in 2017. It’s now been six years since her passing and Gerry is ready to find love again.
He is from Indiana and lives in his dream house on a lake there. Gerry is a retired restaurateur. No doubt fans will learn more about that as more information begins to come out about Gerry.
Gerry finds himself still very active. The official synopsis for The Golden Bachelor says Gerry is “often busy hosting barbecues, playing pickleball, cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams, four-wheeling, and spending time with friends and family at restaurants and local haunts.”
How he thinks his wife would feel about him joining the show
During his interview on Good Morning America, Gerry shared his thoughts on how he thinks his wife would feel about him moving on and looking for love.
He said, “She got robbed. Every day that goes by, that’s the thought that I have. I have her picture on a dresser in my closet. Every morning I give her a nod, ‘So what do you think about this?’ For awhile it was like, I was having a hard time figuring out if she would be okay. But we always told each other when one of us goes, we want the other to be happy. She’s up there rooting [for me]. She’s saying, ‘Yeah, Gary. Do this.'”
Gerry has the support of his daughters and granddaughters as he begins his journey to find love once again. It was them who wanted him to sign up for the opportunity.
