Are All ‘Bringing Up Bates’ Courtships Rushed?
Are all Bringing Up Bates courtships rushed? Some fans are starting to think so after taking a closer look at each of the kids’ relationship timelines. It turns out that some of the Bates kids’ relationships move very quickly, especially by mainstream standards. Keep reading to find out how long their relationships were before marriage, plus see what fans have to say.
Bringing Up Bates kids court rather than date.
Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’ kids are expected to court rather than date. This means that they date with the intent to marry. While other people may date around while in their teenage years, the Bates kids tend to marry the first person they court. In some cases, they have ended a courtship and went on to court someone else. But in most cases, they end up getting very serious with the first person they ever court.
While in a courtship, the couples are expected to keep PDA to a minimum. In some cases, they can’t even hold hands until they are engaged.
Because these relationships are pretty serious, they move quickly from friendship to marriage. Now, fans are questioning the lengths of the Bringing Up Bates stars’ courtships.
Are their courtships rushed?
On Reddit, fans are discussing whether the kids’ relationships have been rushed. Sometimes, it seems like they get married very quickly after entering a relationship. One fan broke down the number of months between the beginning of a courtship and a wedding date for each of the Bates kids.
Alyssa Bates’ relationship with John Webster was the shortest at just six months. They started courting in November 2013, were engaged in January 2014, and married in May 2014. Most of the other relationships fall between 10 months and 22 months long. However, this is based on when they officially start courting. Many are close friends prior to officially entering a courtship.
One fan was shocked to learn that Zach had only known Whitney for 16 months before they were married.
Some fans believe that the Bates kids’ relationships move quickly so they can become intimate with each other. Others think it has to do with them wanting to get out of their parents’ house.
Someone else added, “I always thought KJ pushed the guys to propose to her daughters and was entirely too involved in the over the top engagements. She pushed for the big proposals. Talk about pressure!”
Another fan chimed in, “IMO they all moved a little fast.”
What does the future hold for Bringing Up Bates courtships?
