As those who have watched Netflix’s Is It Cake? and Is It Cake Too? know, each episode ends with an excessive amount of leftover cake. Viewers at home have recently expressed some concerns over what happens to all of the extra desserts as they would hate to think all of that extra food goes to waste. So, what does Netflix do with all of the extra cake when the episode ends? Keep reading for the scoop!

Each Episode Ends With Lots Of Extra Cake

Each episode of Is It Cake and Is It Cake Too? kicks off with some sort of intro game involving the spinning cake wall. Sometimes there is just one realistic cake. And, sometimes there are several hidden in some sort of themed set-up. Typically, the bakers are challenged to “find the cake.” Finding the cake in the shortest amount of time translates into an advantage such as getting to pick what type of cake to make first.

Then, each of the bakers are challenged with making a cake to look like a realistic item they usually get to pick to some degree. Lastly, there is the bonus round where there is one more cake that has some sort of money theme such as a backpack stuffed with cash or a vault full of money. In this final round, the winner gets to keep the cash if they spot the cake. The question remains: What happens to all the cake?

What Does Netflix Do With Extra Cake On Is It Cake?

As fans of the show know, the three judges do get to taste the cakes each of the bakers make to choose a winner after everything is said and done. It, however, is not uncommon for what the bakers on Is It Cake? produces to be fairly large in size. And, there’s only so much the judges can consume. So, what happens to the excess cake?

During a recent episode from Season 2, one of the judges did joke that she brought containers of Tupperware with her to the show because her boyfriend told her not to come back without cake for him to enjoy as well. Is it possible that the judges and bakers just take the cake home with them?

According to Distractify, executive producer Dan Cutforth revealed that the cakes are more or less destroyed by the time filming concludes and the aftermath of the cakes doesn’t leave much for Netflix to do anything productive with them. So, sadly, this does mean that other than what the judges consume, the cakes just go to waste.

Dan explained: Every cake that was made on the show could be eaten. In terms of what happened to the cakes afterward, of the ones that were not eaten by judges, those cakes got pretty well hacked up with swords and machetes and really sharp knives. So, there wasn’t that much left to them.”

Dan Cutforth also reassured that not only are the cakes good enough to eat, but the bakers are encouraged to make actual cakes and not just model thick layers of modeling chocolate into edible objects.
